  • Celebrate the season with Newmarket’s fall/winter event lineup

    ​It will be a season of celebration at the Town of Newmarket’s incredible fall and winter events. Mark your calendars for a lineup of favourite traditions and memorable moments that bring the community together. 

    Kick off spooky season at the popular Haunted Halloween Trail and the Kids' Halloween Party presented by Bogart Dental. There's fun for the whole family at the annual Santa Claus Parade and the coolest place in town is Frozen Friday presented by Mercedes-Benz Newmarket. Join us for all this and more – check out the details below!

    Fine Art Photography Exhibition

    Date: Now to September 27, 2025
    Time: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. | Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    Location: Old Town Hall (460 Botsford Street)
    Cost: Free admission

    This juried exhibition will show the best of fine art photography from all around Ontario. Drawing on the photographers' vision, emotions or concepts, this exhibition will explore creative expression through photography.

    Art at 395 Exhibit: Tides and Currents

    Date: Now to October 10, 2025Time: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    The Tides and Currents art exhibit features artwork created by members of the Newmarket Group of Artists. On view are artworks in a range of media that reflect a variety of creative interpretations and poetic associations around the ever-changing, moving and fluid opportunities in our lives. Artwork is available for purchase.

    Splash of Culture presented by Mercedes-Benz Newmarket

    Date: Wednesday, September 17, 2025
    Time: 7:30 p.m. (opening piano performance at 7 p.m.)
    Location: Riverwalk Commons (200 Doug Duncan Drive)
    Cost: Free admission

    We're bringing you an energetic and dynamic evening of blues, soul, jazz and R&B influenced musical performances at Splash of Culture presented by Mercedes-Benz Newmarket.

    Head to Riverwalk Commons to hear powerhouse vocalist Quisha Wint and the electrifying music of Daniel Panetta and the Midnight Company. The opening piano performance by Patrick Fockler begins at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Please bring your own seating.

    Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture, and Newmarket's Culture Days activities invite you to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities. Join us as we focus on the theme "Family Connections – Transcending Cultural Boundaries" and explore the concept of family as a cultural connector.

    Free arts and culture activities are available now through to October 5 although the Culture Days hub weekend (Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21, 2025) is not to be missed with a weekend of action-packed cultural activity at Old Town Hall, NewRoads Performing Arts Centre, Elman W. Campbell Museum and more. From free workshops and concerts to art and heritage exhibitions, there's something for everyone to experience!

    Central York Fire Services' Open House

    Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025
    Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Location: Ian Laing Headquarters (300 Earl Stewart Drive, Aurora)
    Cost: Free admission

    The annual Open House is an opportunity for the community to get to know their local fire department and learn more about simple but important actions everyone can take to prevent fires at home. Stop by for morning coffee and donuts, BBQ hot dogs (available for purchase), the Tim Hortons Express Train, arts and crafts, prizes, games, "Sparky the Fire Dog", interactive fire safety activities and much more! This is an educational event the kids will love!

    CYFS is also offering a Dunk Tank for Good! Purchase 3 balls for $5 with all proceeds donated to the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation which aims to prevent carbon monoxide tragedies.

    Pooch Plunge

    Fall Electronic Waste and Household Battery Recycling Event

    Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025
    Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Location: R.N. Shelton Operations Centre (1275 Maple Hill Court)

    In celebration of Waste Reduction Week, the Town of Newmarket is hosting an Electronic Waste & Household Battery Recycling Event this fall. Residents are invited to drop off their unwanted electronic items such as TVs, DVD players, computers, laptops, cell phones, as well as household batteries.

    Green Bin and Kitchen Catcher Sale

    Don't miss the green bin and kitchen catcher sale from October 20-26 where residents can purchase these items for a discounted rate ($20.92 for green bins and $6.13 for kitchen catchers). Limit 2 per household. Order online at Newmarket.PerfectMind.com and they will be delivered by GFL in 1-2 weeks.

    Ghost of Old Town Hall Tours presented by Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home

    Tour downtown Newmarket and discover mysterious stories of the past during the Ghost of Old Town Hall Tours presented by Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home! Guests will be taken on a guided walking tour of historic downtown Main Street and experience a live paranormal investigation and any findings hosted by the Georgina Paranormal Society at Old Town Hall.

    Kids' Halloween Party presented by Bogart Dental

    Join us for a howling good time at the Kids' Halloween Party presented by Bogart Dental! Children ages 4 to 9 years are encouraged to come in costume, try a variety of hands-on Halloween-themed stations, crafts, games, photo ops, a spooky maze and magic show.     Haunted Halloween Trail

    Date: October 23, 24, 25, 202
    Time: 7 to 10 p.m.
    Location: Dave Kerwin Trail (Entrance at Environmental Park, 325 Woodspring Avenue)
    Cost: $5/person (while quantities last)
    Age: Not suitable for children under 10 years of age. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

    Take a walk through Newmarket's Haunted Halloween Trail – if you dare! A portion of the Dave Kerwin Trail will be transformed into an eerie one-kilometre adventure with scary decorations, lighting, sound effects and actors in costume.

    Stay tuned to the website for more information. Tickets will be available to purchase for $5 per person while quantities last. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Tickets will not be available on site during the event.

    Drop off and register your pumpkin between 3 and 6 p.m. Categories include: Jack-of-all-Lanterns, Cutest Pumpkin, Scariest Pumpkin, and Most Creative. All are welcome to attend from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to view the pumpkins and cast your vote.

    Santa Claus Parade

    Welcome Santa Claus to Newmarket at our annual Santa Claus Parade. Bundle up and bring your family and friends to see the festive holiday floats followed by our special guest – jolly Old St. Nick. Please remember to bring your letter to Santa to be picked up by Canada Post and your non-perishable food item to be collected for the Newmarket Food Pantry.

    Tim Hortons First Night
