​York Region has issued a Special Weather Alert for January 5 to 7.   

During cold weather, the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, Magna Centre and Newmarket Public Library will be open as a temporary warming centre during its regular hours of operation.  

• Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (100 Eagle Street West): Monday to Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.  
• Magna Centre (800 Mulock Drive): Monday to Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.  
• Newmarket Public Library (438 Park Avenue) – please check their website for the most up to date hours of operation. 

Anyone experiencing homelessness in York Region who is looking for shelter during a Cold Weather Alert should call the York Region Emergency Housing Central Intake Line at 1-877-464-9675 ext. 76140. You can also contact one of the seasonal shelter providers listed on york.ca/emergencyhousing
