​In partnership with York Region and the municipalities of Aurora, Markham, and Stouffville, the Town of Newmarket is hosting a free municipal election and candidate information webinar.

Individuals who are interested in learning more about local government and municipal elections are invited to attend a free virtual candidate information webinar focused on the 2026 Municipal Elections in York Region.

This session will help participants learn more about what it means to run for municipal office and decide whether becoming a candidate is right for them. You'll also learn about other ways to get involved in your local community aside from running for office.

The webinar will take place virtually via Zoom on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 6 p.m. While there is no cost to attend, registration for the webinar is required. Register online here.

The first day to file nominations to run as a candidate in the 2026 Municipal Election is May 1, 2026. This webinar is an opportunity to get informed ahead of the nomination period.
