Profile Councillor Kelly Broome

First elected in 2014, Kelly Broome was elected to serve as Councillor for Ward 6 in Newmarket for a third- four year term, in 2022.

Kelly Broome is more than just your Councillor of Ward 6 Newmarket; she is an active participant who is dedicated to improving the lives of those in Ward 6. Kelly embodies her motto that community, charity and public service is something we all should contribute to. Kelly reaches into the lives of the community, donating her time and talent to multiple organizations and charities.

Currently, Kelly serves as a direct of Trinity Glen Housing Board, York Regional Policy Community Advisory Council, Chair of Sir William Mulock Secondary School Council, Clearmeadow Public School Council, Southlake Regional Health Centre Run Walk Committee and Terry Fox Run 40 Year Ambassador and Advocate.

Kelly's involvement in the community spans many years prior to becoming a member of Council. As a resident of Ward 6 for 25 years, Kelly's record of local community involvement over that time has included being marketing chair of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity Newmarket Women's Build, and Founder of International Women Day Women of Excellence Awards.

In addition to her role on Councillor, Kelly serves as the Vice President of CHATS-Community & Home Assistance to Seniors, providing homecare and community services to enable over 8,300 older adults and their caregivers in York Region and South Simcoe, to continue living independently, safely and with dignity in their own homes and communities.

Kelly believes when people enjoy and believe in what they do, it comes through in a positive way every single day. It is no surprise that you will find her hard at work supporting many local charities. Although Kelly is personally rewarded by the work that she does, her involvement in the community serves another purpose: enriching the quality of life for Newmarket residents.
