INTRODUCTION – What are these Comprehensive Plans?
The Town of Newmarket has initiated a review and analysis of water, and wastewater services throughout the Town, which will result in a Comprehensive Plan to support projected growth scenarios outlined in the Council-Approved Growth Plan through 2051. The overall objective of this infrastructure planning process is to ensure that the Town's infrastructure (sewers, watermains, and pumping stations) can accommodate the growth while maintaining the level-of-service to existing residents and businesses.
This Comprehensive Plan Update will build upon the existing Water and Wastewater Master Plan (March 2017), and will consider all lands designated for development, plus an allowance to accommodate intensification within the existing development limits as established by York Region and the Provincial Growth Plan.
PUBLIC CONSULTATION – Help us plan for the future!
Public consultation is a key component of the MPCEA process. Two Public Consultation Centre (PCC) events were held to seek public input. PCC #1 was held in February 2023 and discussed the project objectives and processes. PCC #2 was held in November and discussed study findings and recommended upgrades for the Town's water and wastewater infrastructure.
